Antibody effector function
The binding of an antibody to its target in vivo triggers biological functions that strive to eliminate pathogens or infected cells. These actions are often connected to the Fc-domain of the antibody and referred to as effector functions. Som key effector functions of antibody binding are:
- Complement activation
- Antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC)
- Neutralization
- Antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP).
