Antibody effector function

Antibody effector function

The binding of an antibody to its target in vivo triggers biological functions that strive to eliminate pathogens or infected cells. These actions are often connected to the Fc-domain of the antibody and referred to as effector functions. Som key effector functions of antibody binding are:

  • Complement activation
  • Antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC)
  • Neutralization
  • Antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP).

Choosing the correct effector function is critical to elicit the needed response and avoid unwanted activations. We have extensive experience of expressing antibodies with different effector functions, contact us for more information.

Effector function assays
Innovagen offers assay service to evaluate the effector function of your antibody. These assays are often cell based with more complex reporter system. Let us know what you need to evaluate and we can set-up a suitable assay for your needs.
