Labeled peptides

Labeled peptides

Peptides can be labeled with chromophore dyes and other molecules like biotin. Labels can be added to the N- or C-terminal of the sequence but can also be added to the side chain of certain amino acids.
In some applications FRET pairs are needed. FRET is a non-radiative energy transfer between two chromophores, often used when changes in molecular environment are investigated.

Some common chromophores: EDANS, Dabcyl, Dnp, 5-TAMRA
